The Golden Wood

I found myself in a golden wood
on an autumnal afternoon.
The sun was hidden behind a cloud
wrapping the trees in a misty gloom.
Still the color could not be veiled
and the leaves shone like doubloons.
As I walked among the silent trees,
I sang a song of an Elvan Queen
"Awake, Awake Oh Lady of White
slumber not in middle earth dream."
The answer came on a gentle breeze
That stirred the leaves with a sound like rain.
The center of the copse was suffused with light
As a bird trilled a single note in echo of her name.

  1. As a child I ran through such forest of golden yellows, brillent reds, deep cool greens, ancient browns or mystic whites with glistening ice diamonds. Sometimes I would just lay on the breast of mother earth and felt her coolness while her concort beamed his warming rays on my face. All the while I'd listen to the elves, faries and magical beings tell me stories of marvelist magic and great adventures from the days of middle earth.

  2. Interesting seeing how the genes pass through middle earth from one generation to the next :-)
