Midsummer's Eve

Just an illusion
A trick of light
An indulgent dream
From a star glazed night.

Imagined realm
No map can find
A kingdom of dreams
Made in your mind.

Ephemeral lover
No heart should trust
A comet that ends
In a trail of dust.

A dream will travel
Where the heart will bend
But what of the dawn?
All dreams must end.

Day breaks the chest
of night time fears
And sorrow is caught
on a pillow of tears.

Now open your eyes
and watch the sun rise
for your lover is sleeping
Right by your side.

  1. You need to publish your peons, they are excellent.

  2. They are actually considered published if posted on a blog, meaning I can't submit them to any publication that wants 'previously unpublished work'. I am content to have them floating in cyberspace for the random person to stumble upon.

  5. Did you really originate this? It is beautiful and truly has brought tears to my eyes.
I have copied it onto a 'Note' on my iphone so that I can read it again and again.

Your Word picture was Heard by my Soul.

'Imagined realm No Map can Find
A Kingdom of Dreams Made in my Mind'

'No heart should trust a comet that ends in dust'!!
How did that thought come to you!! It sends pulses to my brain.

And oh the Poet truth of the words,
'A Dream will travel Where the Heart will Bend'.

This is one of the top five most beautiful things I have ever read.
