I held a rainbow in my hand
Every color at my command
Hard it was just to choose
the next shade, the perfect hue
In my head I had a plan
so much more grand
than I ever could confer
with my pencil to the paper
Some lines were crossed
and patterns were lost
and mistakes more than a few
Forgiven all, a vision come true.
Lines crossed; Patterns lost; yet a Rainbow Vision emerges. A lesson that should be taught to all Children on their First Year of School.
ReplyDeleteI think children do know it already but then school drums it out of them with the insistence on coloring inside the lines and coloring everything its proper and real color. I haven't touched a page of my beautiful Johanna Basford books yet - I am afraid to 'mess them up' and that is kind of sad. In her vlog she says think of the lines as just a suggestion not a rule.
ReplyDeleteThe fear of going outside the lines remains, even after many decades! Recently, I bought colored pens with very fine points hoping this would help me 'stay in the lines.' Just the thought of drawing that first line makes my heart beat faster..in fear. Having the right, latest tools will not matter if I do not use them. As with so many situations in Life.
